Why use green cleaning products?
The purpose of cleaning is to improve the health and well being of your family. What is the point of cleaning if you're bringing potentially hazardous chemicals into your home?
From the EPA website:
Choosing less hazardous products that have positive environmental attributes (e.g., biodegradability, low toxicity, low volatile organic compound (VOC) content, reduced packaging, low life cycle energy use) and taking steps to reduce exposure can minimize harmful impacts to custodial workers and building occupants, improve indoor air quality, and reduce water and ambient air pollution while also ensuring the effectiveness of cleaning in removing biological and other contaminants from the building's interior.

We do not use potentially harmful antibiotic disinfectants in your household. The use of antibiotic cleaners, particularly triclosan, has become more prevalent in recent years. According to the CDC, antibiotic cleaners show no evidence of being any more effective than regular cleaners. And there are arguments that the use of such cleaners may lead to bacteria that are resistant to antibiotics.
Reduce, Reuse, Recycle
We purchase our cleaning products as concentrate, in bulk containers, so that we can dilute them locally. This reduces packaging by allowing us to reuse our smaller containers. And this saves energy because we avoid transporting water all over the country when there is plenty of it right here. We can also provide you with containers of hand soap, dish detergent, laundry detergent, and other household cleaners that can be refilled on our regularly scheduled visits.
Our cleaning is done with microfiber cloths for two reasons. First, microfiber cloths are more effective at capturing dust. Second, they are reusable; we don't want to use disposable paper products for our cleaning service. For really dirty jobs where we won't reuse the cloth, we use salvaged t-shirts.
We try to organize our appointments to minimize fuel usage.
